COMMON WAVELENGTH Groove Tube

A signature Big Blob Groove Tube handpainted in baby blue and tangerine orange stripes and adorned with rick-rack textile trimmings. Paired with a custom-made burgundy lava color and clear fluid. 

Groove Tubes are handmade lava-lamp objects by Shae Studio.

Each piece is made over several weeks in Shae's tiny Brooklyn studio. Cast in solid concrete from an original sculpted form, each Groove Tube is finished and adorned entirely by hand.

Existing lava lamp globes are carefully reworked and individually tuned, adjusting their contents to create a unique, rhythmic flow.

Groove Tubes are heavy tabletop lighting sculptures designed to slow the pace of a space.

A light bulb is included with each piece.

Each Groove Tube is made entirely by hand, making every piece inherently one of a kind. Subtle variations in texture, color, surface, casting, and adornment are unique to each object and reflect the materials, process, and hands that brought it into being.

Please note: Groove Tubes are designed specifically for North American power systems (120V/60Hz) and are only intended for use in the United States and Canada. I can only promise that your Groove Tube will operate properly within these locations as they have been designed and tested for these electrical standards only. However - I am actively researching how to safely adapt future Groove Tubes for other power systems around the world so please stay tuned.
